INFO - ndEmail, An alert email has been sent, Slave node down!. Timeout for a DNS query to your upstream DNS server. For Upstream DNS Server addresss, You can specify DNS port number using a colon. You need to have at least one upstream DNS server. INFO - PostBox.addEmail, An email added, Slave node down!. INFO - AlertMan.writeSlaveDownEmail, Adding a slave node down alert email. I also receive emails from the Slave Node with ""Cluster master node down at null" All this time our Slave Node was up and running, which was also seen in the Cluster section of the Master Node. At 7:45 AM I received the last email about the Slave being down at 7:15 AM, I received this same email every 5 minutes starting at 7:20 AM. Below I have some log information, I have received 150 emails as of 12:00 AM. We have this line "cluster_double_check = 1" in the cfg.properties file. We have NxFilter installed on Linux Mint and both are up and running just fine. But if you can manage a PC network then you shouldn't have much trouble, and what you'll get for your efforts is one of the most capable and configurable free web filters around. After I performed the first NxFilter update after creating a Cluster, going from 4.6.4.1 to 4.6.4.3 and the following day to 4.6.4.5, I am receiving tons of incorrect Master/Slave Node Down emails and I am not sure how to stop the emails. NxFilter is an enterprise-level web filter, and setting it up needs some network experience, and a little time. If the default site blocking isn't enough, NxFilter supports adding domains manually, or grabbing the blacklist from You get a stack of configuration options, there's even support for authenticating users via LDAP and Active Directory (as well as password and IP address), all while delivering great performance (the developer claims NxFilter can handle "several thousands of users easily"). And you're even able to assign policies based on a time range, so for example an office might have a very loose policy at lunchtime, but something much more restrictive for the rest of the day. These policies can be applied to individual network users, or groups of users. If you need more control, it's possible to create NxFilter policies which block sites by category (75 in total), or only allow access to particular site categories - or all internet access - for a certain amount of time a day. A browser-based console displays stats on web traffic, blocked domains and more, as well as logging every site you've accessed. Get NxFilter running on one PC, though, and it brings benefits right away, blocking known phishing sites and using packet inspection to detect some malware. It's still not difficult - if you know how to configure your system to use a custom DNS server then you won't have much trouble - but you will have a little work to do. NxFilter isn't for network beginners, it won't fully set up everything itself, and even the web tutorial doesn't walk you through every detail. You'll first need to install and configure the program, of course, and that can take a little effort. It's also possible to limit access by user and time, and one NxFilter installation can protect your entire network. NxFilter is a powerful Java-based web filter which controls access to web sites based on their domain names.
